With several major cross-country highways passing through Jinan, bus travel is a viable option for most long and short distance journeys from Jinan within China. There are six main long-distance bus stations in Jinan which make road transportation to and from Jinan easy and comfortable. Buses to most destinations in Shandong and northeast China leave daily. The only major problem will be distinguishing between the stations, but broadly speaking, visitors traveling to destinations in Shandong should start at the Jinan General Long-distance Bus Station which is regarded as the best coach terminal in China for the sheer number of destinations offered. For destinations in south China like Hangzhou Wuhan and Wenzhou, the Jinan Luokou Long-distance Bus Station is probably the most useful place to go.

Jinan General Long-distance Bus Station:
Jinan General Long-distance Bus Station is located at 131 Jiluo Lu, Jinan. Coaches here mainly head for the cities of Shandong Province and the big neighboring cities. Major destinations include Beijing (6.5 hrs), Tianjin, Qingdao (3.5 hrs), Zhengzhou, Yantai (1.5 hrs), Weihai (6 hrs), Shanghai, Hangzhou, Wuhan, Ningbo, Hohhot, Nanjing and so on. This coach station is regarded as the "No.1 Bus Station" in China for its number of bus routes, passengers and the ticket prices. From this station you can get to approximately 100 places in different regions of China.

Jinan Central Long-distance Bus Station is located in the central section of Dikou Lu which has easy access to many expressways leaving Jinan. More than 500 buses depart from here every day leaving for Beijing, Shanghai, Tianjin, and some cities in Hebei, Henan, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Hubei, Liaoning, Heilongjiang. This station emphasizes special flow buses that can get to Qingdao, Yantai, Weihai, Jining, Dezhou and Zibo.

Jinan East Long-distance Bus Station (Jinan Changtu Qiche Dongzhan)
Coaches from this station connect Jinan with cities outside of Shandong Province, including Taiyuan in Shanxi Province, Shijiazhuang in Hebei Province and Puyang City in Henan Province. These coaches usually leave in the morning. Frequent buses to Ningyang, Mingshui, Zibo, and Tai'an also operate from here. As well as these normal buses, tourist buses leave for scenic spots including Baimai Spring and Baiyun Lake.
