Irrigation System to Pump Water into Dried Up Lake Near Potala Palace
Mar 24, 2010 By eChinacities.com

Because the winter and spring seasons were especially dry this year, offering little to no rainfall accumulation, the man-made lake in the square leading up to Potala Palace has all but dried up; and in order to allow visitors to enjoy the reflection of the palace on the lake, officials have started pumping water from nearby Zongjiaolukang Park to irrigate the lake. A test run of the irrigation process started the afternoon of March 17th; and reports confirm that piping from East Kang'ang Rd to Zongjiaolukang Park has been laid down and the irrigation process should begin in full in the next ten days.
