The Zhuhai International Dragon Boat Race, sponsored by China Sports Lottery, was held in Doumen District, along the Huangyang River. Twenty-eight teams from different regions and countries participated in the 800-meter race to the finish line. Russia's Tigers Dragon Boat Team finished first place in the men's competitions, and Zhaoqing Women's Dragon Boat Team came out on top in the women's competitions.

On June 13th, 28 teams from UK, Russia, Australia, Malaysia, and China participated in the annual dragon boat racing event along the Huangyang River in Xidi Park, Doumen Ditsrict, Jing’an County. The competitions were split into men's and women's events – as is standard with formal dragon boat races. Participants were grouped into 12 international men's teams, 6 international women’s teams and 10 local men's teams. Competition was fierce amongst the better-known teams – UK's MasterCard International Dragon Boat Team, Russia's Tigers of Vladivostok Dragon Boat Team, Australia's Victorian Dragon Boat Association, Malaysia's Anak Dragon Boat Team, Australia's Canberra (Snow Dragons) Dragon Boat Team, China Hong Kong Dragon Boat Team, and Guangzhou International Dragon Boat Team.

The race course was 800 meters long and had six lanes. Participants in this year's race numbered near 840 people, with over 60,000 spectators – the largest yet of dragon boat races in Zhuhai. Amongst the different prizes awarded, foreign participants were apparently especially delighted with winning roasted pigs.
