The new rail link between Guangzhou, Dongguan and Shenzhen will be extended by 32 kilometers to terminate in Futian District in Shenzhen.

The 119-kilometer rail was previously designed to terminate at Shenzhen International Airport. It will cost 19.5 billion yuan (US$2.87 billion) and is expected to be completed in 2013.

Line 1 starts at Shenzhen Railway Station in Luohu and runs through Futian District, terminating at the airport.

Meanwhile, the planned 49.7-kilometer Shenzhen Metro Line 11 will follow the same route, running from Futian central business district via the airport to Songgang in Bao'an District.
