On May 17, two very official looking gentlemen paid a visit to the Yueyang prison district brandishing documents that stated that they were UN Peacekeepers, as well as an application for medical parole for a prisoner named Lin.

The governor of the jail was a little suspicious seeing as he’d been given no warning of this official visit and the two ‘officials’ kept producing random and irrelevant documentation, like the ‘People’s Republic of China Environmental Protection Act.’

When questioned, the two men reacted indignantly and reached for their phones to call their higher ups to demand the release of the prisoner.

The Governor however, decided to call their bluff and agreed to speak to their superiors. At this point, the two men panicked, and just told them the truth, that they were actually farmers from Huayuan County and they just wanted to get their cousin out of jail.

The two men were subsequently arrested; maybe if they’re lucky, they’ll put in a cell with Lin, the cousin they tried to rescue.
