During the May holiday, Xiamen officials initiated a special tour where visitors can opt to gaze at attractive scenic spots of Xiamen and Kinmen Islands from aboard ferries and it has proved very popular with tourists. Xiamen received 15,000 visitors for the special ferry tour in the 3-day holiday period.
According to a staff member with the local water patrol in Xiamen, visitors boarding the ferries at Xiamen Lundu dock and Heping dock had increased from 1,000 people a day before the May holiday to an average of 5,000 visitors a day – totaling at 15,000 visitors for the 3-day holiday period.
