Horsemeat Scandal: Shanghai IKEA Still Serving Swedish Meatballs
Mar 01, 2013 By eChinacities.com

Amid on-going developments regarding the horsemeat scandal, it was reported on February 25 that food tests in the Czech Republic found meatballs served in local IKEA branches to contain horsemeat as well. Consequently, meatballs are no longer for sale at IKEAS in 21 European countries, as well as in Thailand and Hong Kong. The IKEA in Shanghai however continues to sell Swedish meatballs, with high sales proving that they are popular as ever. To defend itself, IKEA Shanghai explained that all of the meatballs sold in Chinese IKEA branches originate from a meat supplier in Xiamen, and only contain pork and beef.
