Great news everybody! The China National Tourism Administration has announced that 13,000 new toilets will be built and 9,000 toilets will be renovated across the country in 2015.

The campaign is part of a three-year ‘toilet revolution’, which aims to build 33,000 new bathrooms and renovate a further 24,000 in scenic spots across the nation by 2017.

Special attention will be paid to the needs of the elderly and disabled when fixing up the new facilities in an effort to revitalize China’s international image.

It doesn't matter if they are knew. For some reason Chinese men think that peeing all over the floor makes them more masculine. That is why every men's bathroom I've been to in China is covered in piss and all the toilets are stained with crap. There is a really low standard of personal accountability in China. I've heard it said it is because of the one child policy...it made the men spoiled brats...and they act like giant children..

(Tasteless joke warning) I once brought this up with a male Chinese friend. He walked me into the bathroom. He pulled out a very small short string (a little less than an inch). He tied a rope around my legs midway between my waist and knees. He hung the short string from the rope and said stand up straight and try to grip the string. My arms could not reach it. He said to try and aim the string, I could not the string was to short to aim straight. I never complained about Chinese men being unable to piss straight again. I understand and have sympathy.

You know what other country is building toilets ? Thailand - separate toilets for non-Chinese users. That's all you need to know about China’s international image.
