Hong Kong Strengthens Security as Reform Vote Nears
Jun 17, 2015 By eChinacities.com

As a key Hong Kong reform vote nears, the city’s Legislative Council President warned on Tuesday that Hong Kong will not tolerate any type of violent actions. This warning came following events that happened earlier that day, when police detained 10 suspects along with different types of explosive paraphernalia.

In response, the city has asked the police to provide security around the Legislative Council Building near the day of the vote. Additionally, they have issued a code yellow warning and announced that public services in the building are temporarily suspended.

According to risk assessment by the police, it is believed that if the reform bill passes then there may be large scale protests which can erupt in violence, necessitating 5,000 security personnel to remain on standby.

As the vote nears, both Pro-democracy and Pro-China camps have been mobilizing their supporters. The Pro-democracy group holds that if the reform bill is passed, then the city’s Chief Executive will be able to bypass the two party system by his single vote.

One official expressed a very different opinion, saying that if the reform vote fails, then it will call Hong Kong’s entire democratic future into question.

The bill was rejected. This goes into historic record, 28 against, 8 for. Bravo, HKers, stay vigilant!

I hope these poor people can be saved from the dangers of democracy as soon as possible. Once an inefficient system is put in place social harmony can be restored and everyone will be happy.

More accurately, "Once an inefficient [corrupted, dictatorial] system is put in place [fake] social harmony can be restored [faked] and everyone [taking bribes, in control of the system] will be happy".

Most of them don't want a fair and equal society, everyone wants to have an advantage over others. The have nots will complain right until the moment they have more than most, thereafter they will fight to keep their advantage
