Taiping International airport in Harbin is the second largest in northeastern China. The airport has attracted 18 airlines which operate 84 routes including more than 50 domestic routes. Flights leave daily to Beijing (2 hrs), Tianjin (2 hrs), Shanghai (3 hrs), Guangzhou (5 hrs), Qingdao (2 hrs), Shenzhen (4.5 hrs), Xi’an (3 hrs) and Hong Kong (4 hrs). Flights to Hong Kong leave regularly, and there are also scheduled departures for various cities in America, Russia, Korea and Japan. Visitors willing to transfer in Beijing can also reach Frankfurt (11 hrs), London (12 hrs), Vancouver (12 hrs), Los Angeles (13 hrs), San Francisco (13 hrs) and New York (14.5 hrs) via Harbin.

Airport transfers into Harbin take about an hour by shuttle bus, and about half an hour by taxi, the latter of which will cost about 130 RMB. It is advisable to arrive at least 2.5 hours before departure.

The Civil Aviation Ticket Office is found in the Civil Aviation Building (民航大厦) on 99 Zhongshan Lu. To get there from the city, take bus 2, 3, 21, 22, 68, 69, 82, 103, 108, 111, 115 to Tian’e Hotel (天鹅饭店车); tourists in the  Harbin East Station vicinity can take bus 27 to Minhang Lu Dong (民航路车站). Another option is to take a bus from the square in front of the Railway Station. This bus arrives at 5:10 and takes off at 6:30 once a day.
