Hangzhou recently introduced a new product–a specialised SIM card or Chengshitong (城市通) – for mobile phone users. Residents will be able to use the smart cards as SIM cards in their phones, to pay for bus fares, buy groceries, checkout free bikes during their commute and buy fuel at gas stations.
