Hangzhou Has Its First Boom in Tourism in the Year of the Tiger

According to statistics given by city officials, Hangzhou has received around 4.8 million visitors during the “Golden Week” Spring Festival celebrations, up 13.56% from last year. Total revenues reached over 1.6 billion RMB, up 15.6% from the year before. Influx of visitors peaked on the fifth day of the Lunar New Year. This Spring Festival more and more city dwellers are opting to head to the suburbs and countryside to celebrate their New Year, thus attractions and restaurants within the city have tried to cater to that rural and traditional sense of celebration to attract customers.
