Hainan to Offer Foreign Tourists Duty-Free Shopping in May

A Hainan duty-free shopping policy will be piloted from April 20th and put into force from May 1st onwards. Each customer can buy duty-free products worth a maximum of 5,000 RMB. 18 types of commodities including jewelry and watches have been chosen as pilot items. The policy will make Hainan Island the forth duty-free shopping area in the world after Okinawa in Japan, Jeju Island in South Korea and Matsu and Jinmen islands in China.
