Hainan Island Battered by Heaviest Rainfall in 49 Years, Over 130,000 Evacuated

This National Day holiday, Hainan experienced the heaviest rainfall in the month of October since 1961. Total rainfall for the entire province adds up to around 420 mm for the past seven days. As of 16:00 on October 6th, Hainan evacuated 132, 388 people due to the continuous rainy weather. The rainy weather has died down a bit since October 6th and is expected to stay this way for the next few days– offering residents some relief from the bad weather.
