On August 16th, after more than 3 years under construction, Haibao Park finally opened to the public. Upon entering the park, one is greeted with tree-lined sidewalks and colorful flowers dotting the well-cultivated lawns. There are white marble sculptures of elephants by the plaza, running creeks under the bridge, and long winding tree-covered corridors throughout the park. Visitors can be seen striking poses for photos by the water fountains or by the well-trimmed plants.

The park began construction back in March of 2007 on over 3,400 acres of land. It is constructed around the Haibao Pagoda, to which it owes its name, and is made up of 1,200 acres of lake-covered land and 2,200 acres of green land. There are 180,000 different varieties of plants, 1,300 acres of lawn, six bridges, various pavilions and walkways spanning 10.18 km that traverse the park. The plaza by the different entrances measure 32,000 square meters; Wanxiang Plaza, Yundong Plaza, Qiyi Plaza, and various lots total 12,600 square meters. Haibao Park aims to become one of the largest parks in Xingqing District of Yinchuan city.
