Guangzhou's Highest Building Topped Off

On the morning of December 31, 2008, the highest building in Guangzhou, South China - the Guangzhou International Finance Center (also called the 'West Tower') - was "topped off". Once fully completed, the 103-storey and 432-meter high skyscraper will be one of the ten highest buildings in the world.

Located in the Central Business District of Zhujiang New Town, the building has 31 thousand square meters of floor space and 45 thousand square meters of building area.

Construction of the building began at the end of 2005. The project will be completed by the end of 2009 and put into use in 2010, according to the Yuexiu Group, owners of the project.

The Guangzhou Twin Towers 'West Tower', along with its twin to the east, will become one of the tallest high-rises in China, and will serve as an office building, conference center, hotel and shopping center.
