will expand the ticketing systems of metro lines 1 and 2 to meet the soaring demand, which will include adding 133 more turnstiles.

55 new turnstiles will be set up at 9 stations on line 1, and 78 will be added to 10 stations along line 2, with a budget of 42.10 million Yuan (6.19 million USD).

To substantially increase passenger throughput, the project will begin in the second half of this year and begin operation next June.

The two metro lines are major traffic arteries for the public. During the May Day Holidays, the passenger throughput of lines 1 and 2 reached record daily highs of 964,000 and 969,000 respectively.

Long queues at ticket machines and turnstiles are commonly seen in large stations such as Tiyu Xi, Changshou Lu and Lujiang.

The ticketing redevelopment will also incorporate the public commutation IC cards of nearby Foshan City.
