Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra Performs on Ersha Island

Headquarter for Guangzhou Symphony Orchestra (GSO), the Performance Art Building, is now complete. It has state-of-the-art equipment and the best accommodating venue for rehearsals and performances. One of these venues is the outdoor square and lawn near the beautiful Pearl River banks and there is no place better to hold a summer outdoor concert than on the lawn overlooking Pearl River.

Officials have planned for Ersha Island to transform into an island of music, hosting various music fests and events. This free outdoor music concerts will start at the end of September this year. They are planning 20-30 performances each year and the different venues will include the outdoor lawn before the Performance Art Building and the square of Xinhai Concert Hall right next to it. The performance area measure a total of around 2,400 square meters, with accommodation for around 1,000-2,000 audience members. The free lawn music concerts will mainly feature two of the most prestigious orchestras in Guangdong: the GSO and Guangdong Chinese Folk Music Orchestra. There will also be several other regional performance groups including the orchestra with Xinhai Conservatory of Music, municipal and regional Youth Cultural Place Orchestra as well as well-known amateur choirs and more. The first free outdoor concert will be held on September 30th at the lawn beside Pearl River and will be featuring the GSO.

The GSO also plans for open house days during which interested residents are invited to visit the rehearsal rooms and interact with orchestra members face-to-face. Visitors are also welcome to practice instruments of interest while being guided by the professional performers.
