Guangzhou Metro officials have confirmed that prior to the opening of the Asian Games in November this year, three new metro transit lines and three extensions of current transit lines be completed and open to traffic. The transit routes involved are Line 2, the Line 3 northern extension, the Line 4 northern extension the Line 8 extension, the Guangfo Line, and the Zhujiang New Town Automated People Mover Systems. Before the opening of the games, Guangzhou will have 8 metro transit lines with 148 stations throughout the city. There will also be a direct metro connection between Baiyun Airport and Guangzhou South Railway Station.
