Guangzhou ‘Five Vehicle Bans’ To Improve Traffic Situation

Guangzhou ‘Five Vehicle Bans’ To Improve Traffic Situation
Nov 06, 2014 By eChinacities.com

Guangzhou is planning to pass a legislation that will ban five types of vehicles: electric bikes, motorcycles, motorized three-wheeled vehicles, the motorized vehicle for those disabled or elderly, and customized or modified motorized vehicles.

The proposed legislation is that in the administrative area of the city, the sale of electric bicycles will be banned, and motorcycles will be banned in the city limits. The three-wheeled vehicle, also known as a sanlunche, will be banned in Yuexiu District, Haizhu District, Liwan District, Tianhe District, Baiyun District and Huangpu District.

According to the Guangzhou government’s calculations and estimations, this year, up until May, these ‘five types of vehicles’ were responsible for up to 1300 traffic incidents, killed more than 400 people, and, when compared to last year, injured 1500 people more.

It is clear that they are dangerous, and banning or restricting their movement will lead to a much safer environment on the road.

WHAT A JOKE" ! ~ it just shows how backward China is in SO MANY WAYS ! The real fact is that "any IDIOT can purchase a motor bike" ( and "90% them of these riders DON'T have a licence, or are not required to have 'one ) or show that they can operate a motorcycle with safety. JUST BECAUSE YOU HAVE RIDDEN A 'PUSH BIKE FOR YEARS, DOES NOT MEAN YOU CAN THEN JUST GET ON A MOTORBIKE. SO INSTEAD OF BANNING THE SALE OF MOTORCYCLES AND PLACING AREAS OF USE RESTRICTION ~ 2 things should be tried FIRST ! (1) no licence, ""THEN YOU CAN'T OWN OR OPERATE A MOTORBIKE"" ! (2) AND THE PASSING OF A LAW, THAT HELMETS ARE COMPULSORY ! It's time that these apparently "experienced community leaders ( many university graduates ) started using the BRAINS ! IT'S A WELL KNOWN FACT THAT OVER 75 % OF THOSE KILLED EACH YEAR "DIE FROM "SERIOUS HEAD INJURIES" I CHALLENGE COMMUNITY LEADERS TO START SHOWING HOW 'WISE THEY CAN BE TO, RATHER THAN HOW DUMB THEY CAN BE.
