Guangzhou Citizens Outraged at Crossing Signal That Only Lasts for One Second
May 09, 2013 By eChinacities.com

Despite the local authorities cracking down on jaywalking lately, it seems that it’s the only way to go in Guangzhou, as the pedestrian crossing signal at a traffic light in the city’s Luogang District was recently shown to last for only one second. Understandably, this makes it rather difficult for pedestrians to cross the 35 meter-long road in time, and many have since voiced their complaints to the authorities.

While the authorities have promised to do something about it, it does come as a blow to the government’s “civilized” traffic regulation moniker, as, in this particular instance, jaywalking is really the only choice for pedestrians.
