Guangzhou Authorities Arrest 168 in Drug Raid; Includes Foreigners
Aug 14, 2013 By eChinacities.com

Over 1300 members of the police raided the Lihua Hotel on Guangxi West Road in Guangzhou on the morning of August 13. A total of 168 people, including a large number of foreigners, were arrested on suspicion of drug dealing.

Police apprehended large volumes of crystal meth, heroine, drug paraphernalia, cash, novelty guns and pellets from the hotel. During the raid, two foreign nationals attempted to escape by jumping from the fifth floor window to a terrace on the third floor, resulting in the injury of one. The owner of the hotel, a Chinese national, was also taken away by police.

So far the identity of the foreigners involved has not been disclosed but it is reported that the majority come from West Africa. It is also unclear whether all of the people arrested were involved in drug dealing and whether an international drug gang was behind it. The case is currently under investigation.

Drug pushers in west Guangzhou are a dime a dozen, they caught 168, but I guarantee there are 50,000 more they missed. I can't walk anywhere in the North side of Yuexiu without someone trying to sell me something.

I agree. The Garden Hotel area is also full of African drug dealers. I refuse to go there now after dark because you can't walk ten metres without being approached by someone.
