Guangxi Bridge Covered in Nails To Stop People Committing Suicide

A new bridge in Liuzhou, Guangxi Province is near completion. The Last stage: cover the two arches in nails. Construction workers are currently soldering large sheets of metal that have 100s of 5cm nails sticking out of them to the two arches on either side of the bridge. The purpose of the nail boards is to stop people from climbing up the arches and committing suicide.

It seems in recent years there has been an increase in suicides in the area, many of which have been committed by people jumping off bridges, which brings traffic to a halt. Well this is an inventive way to improve traffic flow, but seems like a very prickly job for construction workers.
