Starting October, 2012, the Guangshen coastal high will link Hong Kong, Shenzhen  and Guangzhou directly. From Huanpu Road in Guangzhou to Yueliangwan Road in the Nanshan District, the highway will extend 89 kilometers. In addition to easing traffic between the urban centers, the terminal point of the highway is connected with the Shenzhen side lines that lead to the western through passage to Hong Kong, meaning cars will be able to continue directly onto Hong Kong. According to experts, the new Guangshen coastal highway will be one third shorter than the current Guangshen highway. Because it’s a totally closed highway with 8 lanes of two-way traffic, the average speed is designed to be 100 kilometers per hour. Once it’s finished it take only one hour to drive from Shenzhen to Guangzhou.
