Guangdong Court: Hand Services Not Prostitution but Should be Investigated
Jul 02, 2013 By eChinacities.com

A recent court decision to acquit three men who worked in a salon which gave hand-related sexual services to customers has sparked debate across the country. According to the ruling, such services were not considered prostitution and therefore do not constitute a crime.

However, following nationwide outrage at the verdict the Higher People’s Court of Guangdong Province issued a statement on June 26 which stated that hand-related sexual services are not clearly defined in China’s existing law as criminal acts and that it is up to the legislature and judicial interpretation departments to clarify the law.

The court did stress however, that such acts do clearly impair social order and pose a danger to society; it is for these reasons that such cases should be investigated by the relevant authorities.
