A crowd of people in Nanjing who crowded round to watch a naked girl throw herself into a river have been criticized online after they failed to help the man who rescued her- instead, they left him to pull himself out of the river whilst they crowded around the girl.
The girl was seen standing on the bank of the river naked at around 15:00 on Sunday January 11, where several people helpfully took photos of her. She then jumped into the river, but was quickly followed by a young man in black who jumped in and dragged her to the bank where she was pulled out.
Concerned bystanders immediately crowded round to comfort the girl, whilst the young man-whose phone and wallet were damaged in the incident -was left to fend for himself.
The man’s actions were praised by netizens and he responded to online comments saying that he thought it was worth it, despite losing his phone and money, but he would have appreciated a thank you.

Well, I wouldn't expect a "Thank you". The girl is obviously traumatized by some kind of ordeal or just wants to die. A person in both of these situations won't just quickly thank someone for helping them because they don't know what they are doing or they WANT to die. Good guy but don't expect gratitude. As for the crowd... useless as always (which is 99% of people here).

Chinese don't know how to say "thank you". As for the netizens, once again they are quick to condemn the crowd who didn't help the good samaritan. Yet if they were there, I guarantee they wouldn't have helped either.
