German Supermarkets Lock Up Milk Powder to Prevent Chinese Bulk Buying

German supermarkets are keeping their milk powder supplies firmly under lock and key in order to prevent Chinese people from bulk buying the product to take home.

The issue first came to light last year when supermarkets in the UK and Frankfurt were forced to ration baby milk powder because the stocks were being depleted so rapidly by Chinese online buyers.

Now, managers at German stores are worried that Chinese people will stock up on milk powder before flying home for Spring Festival, so they’ve locked it up and are keeping an eye on how much they sell.

Isn't it a good thing to sell as much as you can? Order more, produce more, put more people to work.
