Fuqing Police Shoots at Wild Boar, Accidentally Hits Woman
Nov 06, 2014 By eChinacities.com

At around 21:00 on November 4, the Fuqing City Public Security Bureau was called into Yinxi Street’s Xianghui residential area to help capture a wild boar that was running rampant. The police shot at the boar but somehow accidentally hit a 26 year-old woman, surnamed Wang, who was waiting for someone by the side of the road.

The woman was bleeding uncontrollably, and brought to hospital. According to reports there is still a bullet lodged in her lungs, and experts from nearby areas have been flown in to help the woman, who is still undergoing surgery.

According to the iFeng report, a resident of the Xianghui area explained that at 21:00, there were a lot of people near the entrance to the residential area, and nobody was notified that the police would be shooting at the boar. The probability of the police hitting someone was thus very high. The resident added that the shooter had not thoroughly thought through the consequences of his actions.

The police said that they did send out a public notification to notify residents that a wild boar was causing trouble, an investigation in underway to figure out how this could have occurred.

The cops here are something else... I once went to a police station with an ex-gf to report her stolen mobile phone. The room where they wrote down the details of the crime had a small cell with a chair that looked like a torture device. After 10 minutes or so one of the (even more) stupid and uneducated station cops told me to leave and wait outside. I guess they didn't want me taking photos of their cell. And to think that these unwashed idiots are armed...

I wonder why use serious arm on the poor animal I guess there were better ways to handle the boar than shoot to kill. This serious tragedy would have been avoided.

Why is he even shooting at it? Can't they just net it or chase it into a enclosed area and then... oh right, this is China.

This seems to say more about the (lack of) competence of the police than anything else. How is it even possible to miss a boar by such a margin as to shoot a not so nearby bystander in the chest?
