Free Fall Ride on Guangzhou TV Tower Now Open!

Free Fall Ride on Guangzhou TV Tower Now Open!
Jan 19, 2012 By eChinacities.com

On January 18th, a 485 metre tall "free fall ride" officially opened on the Guangzhou TV Tower. This new, thrilling addition to the tower will cost visitors 130 RMB per ride, or 260 RMB for a combo ticket (includes entry to the tower and the jump).

According to reports, the ride features 4-person seats on the east and west side of the mast. The seats on the east side are composed of "traditional" free-fall seats, while those on the west side feature a standing option. Sound scary? It is! Visitors "fall" at a speed of 80 km per hour, and each ticket allows visitors to try out both options: the standing and seating fall.

In order to guarantee the ride’s safety, the free-fall ride will temporarily close down during unfavourable weather conditions such as strong winds, rain, thunder and lightning. If wind speeds exceed 10 metres per second, the ride will temporarily close. Staff would also like to remind visitors that people with heart conditions should avoid taking this ride.
Getting there: take the metro line 3 to Chigang Pagoda Station, Exit A.
