Four Beijing IT Guys Become Street Food Vendors, Make 10,000 RMB a day

A group of four IT workers from Xi’an have left the world of office work behind to pursue their dream: opening a roujiamo shop in Wudaokou, Beijing. Roujiamo is a popular Shanxi street snack, kind of like a Chinese shawarma.

The team behind the ‘Western Masters’ shop, 300 meters west of Wudaokou subway station, all hail from Xi’an Communications University and met during their undergraduate studies. Last year they set up an internet products technology company to raise their first investment capital. By the time they opened their store they had already invested 1 million RMB of their own money, without asking for a penny from their parents.

According to the team, ‘Western Masters’ focuses on product quality, even using imported materials to make their paper bags, making them 20 times more expensive than regular bags. In terms of marketing, the team made full use of Weixin, and also posted illustrated stories and maps that pointed out the exact location of the shop around the nearby IT companies to attract customers.

Not soon after opening the shop they were making over 10,000 RMB a day and have become insanely popular. They say their ultimate dream is to open an international restaurant chain. Good luck to them!
