Four Arrested For Leaking Online User Information
Jan 11, 2012 By eChinacities.com

Traditional and online media sources have recently been abuzz over reports that user information from various Chinese websites had been leaked. A few days ago, reporters learned from the State Internet Information Office that user information on the Jingdong Mall (www.360buy.com), ICBC (www.icbc.com), Sina Weibo (www.weibo.com) and Dangdang (www.dangdang.com) websites had not leaked. Also, reports that the Chinese Software Developers Network (www.csdn.net) and Tianya (www.tianya.com) websites had recently been attacked were inaccurate – the data from these sites circulating online is from when the two websites were hacked in 2009, and these two websites have not been attacked recently. As of now, public security offices have investigated nine cases related to the hacking, stealing and reselling of data and three cases related to fabricating data leaks. Four people were given criminal detention and eight others received public security punishment.
