10 Shanghai elementary school will receive foreign football coaches from Spain, Germany, the United States, Brazil, and other countries. The 10 schools will be located in Jing’an, Yangpu, Putuo, Jinshan, and Baoshan districts.

In the future, the Shanghai Education Bureau hopes that having foreign football coaches in Shanghai primary schools will become the norm, and that more schools will hire foreign coaches.

The hiring of foreign football coaches is part of the Shanghai Physical Education Innovation Project, which is spearheaded by the Education Bureau and a few related companies. The project hopes to use international resources with years of practical experience in soccer as a starting point to promote youth sports education.

“In these 10 schools, part of physical education classes will focus on football. In addition, the teachers will coach a school football team as an extracurricular activity,” said a project official.
