Flyover Provides Easy Access to Olympic Center

As an important infrastructure element for the 2010 Guangzhou Asian Games, construction on a flyover began on March 25th which provides easy access to the Olympic Center. About RMB 320 million will be invested in the project which is expected to be completed before the 2010 Guangzhou Asian Games.

With the flyover, vehicles traveling from or into the Olympic Center can have quick access to the Dong Huan expressway. Additionally, the flyover will connect Daguan Lu in the north with Chebei Lu in the south. As a result, the three trunk roads will be integrated into a more efficient network. Too, Guangyuan Dong Lu will be joined with the Dong Huan expressway. According to a long-term plan, traffic pressures on the Bei Huan expressway will be eased with the east bound extension of Huanan Lu to join up with the Dong Huan expressway. As well, traffic between Guangdanpian, the Dong Huan expressway and Daguan Lu will be improved.

The project includes two lanes and 8 distributor roads which cover about 3.5 kilometers in total. The project is divided into six sections involving construction of arches, lanes and tunnels.
