Flowers Beautify Guangzhou
Mar 04, 2009 By eChinacities.com

Spring breathes life into Guangzhou. With flowers blooming across the city, landmark buildings like the Guangzhou TV Tower, West Tower and the Pazhou Complex, located at Guangzhou Avenue, Lin Jiang Avenue and Xin Gang Dong Lu, feature special charm.
In order to make certain the city is deserving of its name the “Flower City", Guangzhou initiated a project to plant trees and flowers at trunk roads, squares, plazas and parks. In addition to common plants including those such as Bauhinia Variegata Linn, Delonix Regia and Calliandra Haematocephala Hassk, unique ones such as Callistemon Viminalis G Don, Acacia Farnesiana (Linn.) Wild and Tabebuia Chrysantha will be introduced. Over 400 trees of the Tabebuia Chrysantha variety have been planted at the Guangzhou Zoo, Liuhuahu Park, the Guangzhou Martyrs' Memorial Park, Lin Jiang Avenue and Zhu Jiang New Town are expected to burst into bloom this Spring.

With improvements to be made along truck roads related to the 2010 Guangzhou Asian Games, trees and flowers will be planted along those roads as well.
