The first Lotus Exhibition of Zhengzhou was opened July 8th in Zijinshan Park. The exhibition will last 1 month and during this period, besides the splendid lotus show, there will be a variety of cultural activities as well.
The Lotus Exhibition takes place in both the west and the east parts of Zijinshan park, with more than 300 species lotuses, and a total of more than 100,000 plants, and 3000 lotus potted landscapes.
The jewel of the exhibition is the King Lotus from the Amazon River Valley tropical region. The leaves of King Lotus are very distinct – they’re so huge that when mature, they can be up to 2.5 meters in diameter. In addition, because of the special vein structure, each leaf can bear 50 kilos’ weight which means it’s no problem if a ten years old boy stands on it.
