Females Use Teachers Day and Art to Demand Teacher-Student Love Ban

On September 10, Teacher’s Day, 10 people at ten famous universities including Xiamen University, Beijing Foreign Studies University, Fudan University, Zhejiang University and Wuhan University used the traditional ‘Little Red Riding Hood’ story to propose a ban on love between teachers and students, and to get more attention paid to sexual assault on campus.

The girls dressed up like little red riding hood and used the metaphor of the wolf to get their point across about a teacher-student love affair. They want to convince headmasters to draft regulations on sexual harassment on campus.

Participant Xiao Ying explained that “forbidding relationships between students and teachers is necessary because the two are not even, some teachers may take advantage of the students, and use their authority over students’ results in a manipulative way. Therefore, vulnerable female students need protecting from these people abusing their authority”.

bad news spread fast,i feel sympathy for some nice teacher ,just because some naive students are badly treated their teacher doesnt mean there should be a ban on relationships between teacher-student love, not all teachers ate bad with ill purpose. if its really love there wont be such thing as sexual assault, abuse, and manipulative or rape, yes, sometimes thete maybe some cases that teacher took advantage of students,in contrast, students can take asvantage of teacher for high matks

Do any readers know the current laws in China? From what I've read, the age of consent varies by province, and may vary by counties or other areas within a province. Generally, the lowest age was 12, but reports indicate the age in most, if not all places, has been raised. In major cities such as SH and BJ, I'd heard the age of consent is 18. Assuming that's true, is there a need for laws specifically for teachers? The police would just need to enforce existing laws against statutory rape. [I know what you're thinking - it's much easier, cheaper, and much more common in China to pass new laws with a lot of fanfare for PR purposes than to actually enforce laws.] The U.S. state of Georgia passed a law forbidding sexual relationships between teachers and high school students even if the student was older than 18. The law was struck down on the grounds of equal protection (i.e. you can't single out a particular group for prosecution), so Georgia couldn't put the offending teacher in jail. The school district could, however, fire the teacher, which they did.

I think it's the Chinese teachers they're referring to.
