Volunteering to help your fellow man is a great thing. More people should do it. However, we’re not sure Guangzhou metro’s methodology should be followed: if you need a helping hand just politely ask the girl with her buttocks hanging out and she will be glad to help.
With the Christmas season just passing and Chinese New Year coming up the number of passengers on Guangzhou’s metro lines seems to be increasing. Worried for the safety of their passengers the metro has enlisted the help of some jingle belles, scantily clad jingle belles at that.
Some have said the outfits are too small, while others claim it will encourage people to focus on the volunteering and perhaps volunteer themselves. We don’t think it is the0020act of volunteering that people are focusing on.

Well, this article was quite misleading. I ended up reading Chinese version of it and got more understanding of the situation - Guangzhou metro never had official volunteers, and there was only 1 volunteer working in Guangzhou metro that day - her. She's was brought up in Malaysia, so not a government initiative for sure. She only picked up one person during her "service", a guy obviously. When asked where he was going, she pondered and said "the zoo". When asked how could you guide someone when you are also new to the city, she said, "I lived here for 2-3 years, so I somewhat knew the city...". My opinion, clearly, she got her 5 minutes of fame....

haha...assuming your butt sticks out too, I think they want someone with "things" sticking out above the waist and not a "thing" sticking out below the waist.

Young women volunteering to be fondled by perverts. This is going to lead to hundreds of instances of sexual assault (which isn't taken seriously in China) and quite possibly rape. In a country whose bus systems are already crawling with dangerous perverts, a Government initiative that caters to perverts. Way to go.
