province in South China will reinstate the extended May Day 'Golden Week' public holiday this year, according to an announcement by the provincial government at a press conference in Guangzhou this morning (March 25).
The "holi-week" will last from May 1 to 7. May 6 and 7 are encouraged (non-fixed) annual leave days subject to employer/employee arrangement, while May 1 to 5 includes regulated 'fixed' holidays and weekend time.
Local government officials will undoubtedly have the full Golden Week off. This well-anticipated practice has boosted incentives for the tourist market.
