Expats invited to observe MPC session

The Shenzhen Municipal People’s Congress (MPC) is inviting 40 permanent residents, compatriots from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan and expatriates who have invested or are working in the city to attend its annual session to be held Feb. 23 to 28.
The move is to expand the contact of deputies with representatives from the general public and for the convenience of the general public to participate in the discussion about political and social issues, the Standing Committee of the MPC said in a notice issued yesterday.
Eligible applicants should be at least 18 years old and can attend two plenary meetings to listen to the work reports of the standing committee, the city government, procuratorate and court. They will attend two panel discussions to voice their opinions and suggestions.
Applicants should register from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. and from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday at the South Gate of Hall A of the Shenzhen Citizens’ Center. They are advised to bring valid ID cards or passports and submit one photo (2.5cm by 3.5cm or 3.5cm by 5.3cm) along with an application when registering.
The general office of the Standing Committee of the MPC will inform the person being invited by telephone on Feb. 20.
