China's sixth population census will start on November 11th, 2010, in Shanghai, and is to include, for the first time, people from Hong Kong, Taiwan, Macau and expatriate residents. The census is to canvas basic information about households and individuals that have taken up residence in China and will span a total of three and a half years. The whole process is expected to be split into three stages: the period before October 31st will be preparation; November 1st to 30th will be the registration and confirmation; December of 2010 to the end of 2012 will be the statistics calculations and publication of census results.
