Expat Caught Drunk Driving Jailed, Residence Permit Canceled

According to East China Morning Post, on August 22nd, the Division of Exit and Entry Administration of the Shanghai Public Security Bureau reported an accident involving an expat drunk driver on a motorcycle. The man crashed his own bike and was injured in the incident. The expat, first name was Peter, was given a 10-day sentence by the police, had his driver's license confiscated and was ordered to paid 2,000 RMB in fines. Because Peter's actions violated Chinese law, the Exit and Entry Administration decided to cancel his residence permit; he will be asked to leave the country within an allotted period once he serves his sentence.
