Zou Hengfu faces charges of libel after he revealed that some professors at Peking University were exchanging degrees for sex. In August 2012 the professors posted allegations on his weibo account, stating that some members of the faculty had “preyed” on female workers at a nearby restaurant and offered them degrees in exchange for sexual favours.
The university and the restaurant, Mentaoyuan, are both suing the professor for slander, after his post was shared 70,000 times and generated 18,000 comments. They are demanding he withdraw his post and publish open apologies, without further compensation.
Zou’s lawyer stated on Monday that the professor would not be attending the trial.

I seriously doubt this is true. He probably misconstrued a lame pickup-line, and made ridiculous accusations in a fit or jealous outrage (proll cuz he fancied the waitress himself). A university degree for sex? Peking Uni is the highest ranked in the country - they could get a lifelong wife if they could fix her up with a degree. But I seriously doubt they could fake all the documents and paperwork on their own - simply implausible. Idiot guy ruined his career because of the hysteria around women in this country.
