Elementary School Student Letter Telling Xi Jinping to Lose Weight Censored
Dec 19, 2014 By eChinacities.com

A nine-year old Zhengzhou student’s letter to Xi Jinping urging him to lose weight that went viral this week has been censored by state media, SCMP reports.

Niu Ziru wrote the letter for a school assignment and never meant to send it but his dad thought it was so funny that he uploaded the letter onto WeChat- the letter got re-posted and picked up by major news outlets within hours.

However, by this morning the letter had been pulled from major news outlets including ifeng.com and Xinhua which seems to clash with the ‘people’s president’ image that the leader has been cultivating since coming into power a little over 2 years ago.

In his letter, Ziru suggested that China plan a mission to Mars to keep up with the rest of the world, then finished up by saying - “Grandfather Xi, you should lose some weight- You don’t have to be as slim as Obama. Just like Putin is OK.”

To judge for yourself whether Xi could do with slimming down, you can check out this blog entirely devoted to Xi and his trousers.

It is interesting to see the change in Media. You can not see any news like this previously and now with the popularity of new media platform e.g. WeChat, anything can be spread out within a blink.

Haha, ... uou have to love the honesty of kids. Grandfather Xi must have got a smile from it. All he now needs to do is fire the lot of his outdated, paranoid censorship committee, and find more progressive, open-minded thinkers.
