A drunk Nanjing man who playing with his phone while walking, fell down the stairs of a pedestrian bridge while crossing the street in Gulou District and died late Monday afternoon.

Witnesses saw the man roll down the stairs and lie motionless at the bottom. Police were called in and the man was taken the hospital where he died from his injuries.

The man, Wang 41, had been drinking with his friends that afternoon and was walking home. Security footage shows him swaying from side to side while trying to cross the pedestrian bridge. He stumbles and falls down the stairs while trying to make a call on his phone.

Police stated that accident should serve as a profound lesson for the general public: do not play with your phone while walking and pay attention the road in front of you. “Especially crossing the street, walking down stairs, and walking on a road without good sidewalks it is extremely risk to play with your phone. A number of fatal accidents nationwide have been caused by this,” said a police spokesperson.

"Security footage shows him swaying from side to side..." That's not proof of intoxication. Most people here walk like that.

Well, as I have recently mentioned in a previous comment. At least he died doing things he enjoyed. I would say he enjoyed both drinking alcohol and using his phone. Good journeys in the afterlife, hope it was worth it.
