From November 1 to December 31 you can get out of Xian for a little bit cheaper. Discounts will be available for Business class, Special class and First class on 12 of the high-speed and bullet trains leaving from Xi’an.
Discounted trains are as follows:
Xi’an North to Beijing West – G652, G654
Xi’an North to Guangzhou South – G834, G838, G842
Wuhan to Xi’an North – G856, G858
Trains between Xi’an and Zhengzhou – G2001, G2002, G2006, G2007, G2011
Booking 1-5 days in advance will award you an 15% discount, while booking 6-20 days in advance will award you a 20% discount. Booking has already begun for all 12 routes. You can book your tickets online at www.12306.cn.

To me it looks like these are only one-way tickets, is the return also discounted. Probably not.....
