Death Penalty against Two for Roles in Tainted Milk Powder Scandal

The court in Shijiazhuang handed the death penalty to Zhang Yujun and Geng Jinping for their roles in the deadly tainted milk powder scandal last year. Zhang was executed for endangering public safety and Geng was executed for producing and selling toxic food. From July 2007 to August 2008, Zhang and Geng produced and added large amounts of industrial chemical melamine to infant formula, and sold it to diary companies including China’s diary giant Sanlu Group Co.. The tainted milk harmed many babies’ and the scandal brought great lost to China’s dairy companies and milk farmers.
