Mar 19, 2010 By eChinacities.com

Datang West City Museum in Xi'an will open to the public starting April 7th. And ten days prior to the official opening date, the museum will hand out 20,000 tickets free of charge to the public. Datang West City Museum has a collection of over 20,000 artifacts, all unearthed from the archaeological site of the West City; the artifacts dating back to the Chinese Bronze Age (Shang and Zhou dynasties) and going all the way up to Ming and Qing dynasties. The artifacts include bronze, porcelain, terracotta, silver and gold wares, silk, jade, coins, and tomb offerings and other religious artifacts. The museum is part of a bigger restorations plan for the historic city of Xi'an – to “restore it to its former glories as the capital city of the Tang Dynasty”.
