Daqing Attractions

As a relatively new city, founded on the petroleum industry that it was designed to support, many of the attractions in the city are based around petrochemicals. The Daqing Oilfield Science and Technology Museum is popular with visitors as it explores the research into and impact of the oil industry and refineries in Daqing. The Memorial Hall of Iron-Man Comrade Wang Jinxi is a testament to the undying hard work and devotion of the city's most famous worker, who was honored by Chairman Mao. Iron Man Square, also named after Comrade Wang Jinxi is an extremely popular place at both day and night, when in summer the musical fountain has a water and laser show which is a well known feature of the city.

The Daqing Museum has exhibitions of the ancient pre-history of the area, including the most complete early mammal fossils found in China to date. Visitors can enjoy browsing and buying art at the Daqing Painting and Calligraphy Gallery.

There are many prairies and marshlands around Daqing, such as the area around Annular Lake which is a series of smaller lakes during dry season which flood to form one large lake during the wetter months. Visitors to the area can enjoy taking part in many activities at the lake including horse riding and fishing.

The Dangnai Wetland is a beautiful park where visitors come to see thousands of migratory birds. Strangely, visitors can also take pot shots at some of them during hunting season too! The 6 hills of Jingyuan Park provide panoramic views of planted forests and grasslands and also encompass a monkey house and a long-corridor.

During winter, most visitors to the city choose to head up to the Feitian Ski Resort, especially during the Spring Festival when the area is popular for horse sledding as well as skiing.
