The 8th Dalian International Walking Festival will be held on May 15th and May 16th. The event has the lofty theme of promoting “health, peace, and communication”, keeping with the motto and mission of the IML Walking Association (originally the International Marching League). The event starts at 06:30, May 15th and continues until 16:00. There are three events on the 15th – 5 km, 20 km and 30 km walks. On May 16th, the festival again kicks off at 06:30 and concludes at 14:30. Events on the 16th include 5 km, 10 km and 20 km walks.

The routes
5 km route (May 15th and May 16th, starting at 06:30):

Xinghai Plaza Inner Ring Rd (Huabiao Plaza) – No. 4 West Rd – Youting (Yacht) Rd – Shengya Sea World (side entrance) – Xingyu Street – No. 3 West Second Rd – Xinghai Plaza (west side, Outer Ring Rd pedestrian walkway) – No. 4 West Rd - Xinghai Plaza Inner Ring Rd (Huabiao Plaza)

10 km route (May 16th starting at 6:30):

Huabiao Plaza – No. 3 East Rd – Guobao Bridge – Binhai West Rd – Binhai Middle Rd – 760 Experiment Venue – Binhai Middle Rd – Prince Hotel (front entrance)

20 km route (May 15th and 16th starting at 6:30)

Huabiao Plaza – No. 3 East Rd – Guobao Bridge – Binhai West Rd – Binhai Middle Rd – Jiefang Rd – Binhai East Rd – Yingbin Rd – Dajiashan Parking Lot

30 km route (May 15th starting at 6:30):

Huabiao Plaza – No. 3 East Rd – Guobao Bridge – Binhai West Rd – Binhai Middle Rd – Jiefang Rd – Binhai East Rd – Binhai North Rd – Shibapan – International Convention Center (east bay area final destination).

Last year’s 7th International Walking Festival attracted over 200,000 participants, including quite a few expats.
