Corrupt University Recruiter Caught at Border with Fake Passport

Corrupt University Recruiter Caught at Border with Fake Passport
Nov 28, 2013 By eChinacities.com

An all too frequent tale of corruption in China. According to news reports, last week the head of recruitment at China’s Renmin University, Cai Rongzhong, was under investigation for possible corruption. So what does he do? Buy a “new” passport and head to the hills, more specifically Canada.

Turns out he paid too much for his fake passport though because on November 27 Shenzhen’s border control saw through the forgery and arrested him trying to flee. He has since confessed to recruiting students for a sum of around 100 million RMB.

The president of Renmin University, Ji Baocheng, has been confined to Beijing, and his secretary is said to be helping with the investigation.

Cai has been head of recruitment at Renmin Univeristy since 2003, but over the last 3 years there have been mutterings on the internet about him being corrupt, those mutterers must be cackling now as he sits in a cell in Shenzhen.
